How do I specify controls and measurements on the order form for more than one blind on a headrail?
Please note that if specific measurements are not indicated for each blind width we will automatically divide the overall measurement in half for 2 on 1 headrail. In the case of a 3 on 1 - we will divide the number by three and make each blind 1/3 the width of overall measurement. Unless otherwise specified, controls will be entered as standard positions. The definition of standard positions follows; tilt on left side, lift on right side.

If you require specific sizes please specify them in the "Special Instructions" portion of the form. Example.

Blind Information

What brand of Window Coverings does Costco Wholesale sell?
The window coverings are Graber, a nationally recognized brand name owned by Springs Window Fashions .

Can I get sample swatches?
Yes, they are free and we highly recommend you make your choices only after reviewing sample swatches. Just call 800-538-9419 -or- request swatches on this web site.

Are cord tilts available instead of tilt wands?
They are available as a no-charge option for both real wood blinds and Ecowood blinds. Simply write "cord tilt" in the "Special Instruction box" of the purchase form. Unless otherwise specified the control positions will be standard.  The definition of standard is tilt on left side, and lift on right side.

What are the differences between 3/8”, 3/4", Doublecell Light Filtering and 3/8” Room Darkening Cellular shades?
One of the main differences between these shades are cell sizes. Below are illustrations of your options:

As a general rule, people use 3/8” on small to mid-sized windows. The 3/4” cell size is more popular on larger windows. Regardless of your choice, it usually looks best to keep the same cell size in the same room.

Doublecell shades offer the maximum energy efficiency. There are two sets of cells on the Softcell Doublecell cellular shades. The two cells trap more air; the additional air insulates your room from both cold and hot temperatures.

Room darkening shades block out most of the light and are a great choice for bedrooms or media rooms. Light filtering fabrics allow a soft muted light through their cells.

What are the differences between pleated shades and Softcell cellular shades?
Softcell cellular shades are honeycomb shades that have a neutral white backing to the backside of the window. No matter what color you select to the interior of the room, the back of the shade will always be white to the street side. Cellular shades are also more energy efficient than pleated shades. Pleated shades may have to be overlapped when window widths are wider than 48”. As a general rule, pleated shades will filter more light and offer more sheer options than softcell cellular shades

What are the differences between 2" Wood blinds and 2" Ecowood blinds?
Ecowood blinds are essentially wood and plastic composite, so consequently they weigh more. As a result, the Ecowood blinds will likely have more ladders (the strings that hold the slats). This is particularly evident on wide blinds. Ladder spacing for real wood blinds have a maximum width of 24", while the Ecowoods have a maximum of 14". Ecowoods require that the tilt wand and lift cord be placed on opposite sides of each other. Real wood blinds will give you the freedom to put both controls on the same side (blinds under 20 1/2" wide must have controls on opposite sides).

Are decorative tapes available?
They are available at a 15% surcharge. You may call customer service for a free sample swatch. When ordering, be sure to write the color name and number of the tape in the "Special Instruction box" of the purchase form. Since all the prices at Costco need to be rounded to the nearest $1, simply multiply the base price of the blind by 1.15 to obtain the final price. For example, for a blind priced at $150, after adding the tapes the cost would be $173. (150.00 x 1.15 = 172.50 - then round to 173.00). The purchase form will also ask for a stock number, and the stock number would be 173 in our example. Please note the stock number will always be the same as the blind's final price. Also: We have found that decorative tapes are much more appealing on wood blinds than Ecowood blinds. This is due to the increased number of ladders that Ecowoods require-especially on wide blinds. Please keep in mind that decorative tapes would appear every 14 inches on Ecowood blinds.

Measurement & Installation Information

Why would I order 2 blinds on 1 headrail, or 3 blinds on one headrail?
Consider ordering two or three blinds on one headrail when you have a window which would benefit from independent operation of each side. For example; a sliding door would be a good application for two blinds on one headrail. Each blind would have separate controls and could be raised and lowered independently.

Mini blinds, Wood blinds, Ecowood, Pleated and Cellular blinds can also be ordered as three blinds on one headrail.

When mounting to a door, should I let you know?
Yes you should let us know because we can provide special brackets for the bottom of your horizontal blind. These "Hold Down" brackets would secure the blind to the door or windy location and minimize movement of the blind.

In the "Special Instruction" portion of the order form please write in; "Hold Downs". See example of form.

What are extension brackets and why would I need them?
Extension brackets are L-shaped brackets used to project the shade away from the wall or window to clear obstacles such as molding or handles.

Do I need to be concerned about the depth of my window casing?
Yes, when you consider an inside mount you need to be sure you have at least the minimum depth in order to mount the hardware necessary to support the blind.

What is the difference between an inside mount and outside mount?
Inside mounted blinds are mounted inside your window recess. An inside mount is often preferred because it provides a finished, built-in look without covering your window molding.

Outside mounted blinds are mounted on your wall or molding. An outside mount can make your window appear larger or hide an unattractive window.

Will you take any deductions off the measurements I give you?
On inside mounts we will take a slight deduction, in order to ensure a good fit and smooth operation of your blind.

This deduction varies by product and it is not recommended that you try to second guess our deduction amounts and add them back to your measurements. This can result in blinds that are too wide for your opening.

For outside mount applications we do not take deductions. We make the blinds to the exact width and length you have provided. In the case of a blind with a valance the overall measurement will be reflected on the valance and not the blind beneath the valance. Please note; the factory does not add the overlaps required for outside mounts - this is the member's responsibility.

Can I measure my old blinds and give you those measurements?
This is not a good idea as the blind you measure may have already had deductions taken, and when you specify inside mount we will take additional deductions.

We recommend you measure the opening where the window covering will be hung, not existing blinds.
